MHS Pwrlfting @ Dimmitt (1-30-2015)
The Muleshoe High School Powerlifting team traveled to Dimmitt for a meet Saturday morning. Two Lady Mules participated and placed and six Mules placed individually and the Mules placed second as a team.
Eric Vela led the Mules with a first place total of 1125 pounds in the 242 pound weight class. He had a squat lift of 400 pounds, a bench lift of 300 pounds and a deadlift of 425 pounds.
“I was very proud of all of our lifters in the Dimmitt meet,” said Muleshoe Powerlifting coach Albert Lopez. “The kids are all working hard and it shows in that their totals are going up at every meet.”
Cesar Olvera finished second in the 220 pound weight class with a total of 1015 pounds. He made a squat lift of 370 pounds, bench pressed 225 pounds and deadlifted 420 pounds.
Evan Paez also placed second but in the 132 pound weight class. He had a squat lift of 330 pounds, bench pressed 180 pounds and deadlifted 365 pounds for a total of 875 pounds.
Mikey Lozano brought home a second place medal in the 148 pound class with a total weight of 790 pounds. He squat lifted 320 pounds, bench pressed 140 pounds and dead lifted 330 pounds.
Justin Carrion placed fourth in the 148 pound class. He squat lifted 260 pounds, bench pressed 140 pounds and dead lifted 330 pounds for a total of 730 pounds.
Ryan Rodriguez finished sixth in the 181 pound class with a total of 875 pounds. He had a squat lift of 320 pounds, bench pressed 190 pounds and dead lifted 365 pounds.
Noa Rojas was fourth in the 181 pound class. She squat lifted 250 pounds, bench pressed 105 pounds and dead lifted 260 pounds for a total of 615 pounds.
Haley Hunt finished in fifth place in the 123 pound class with a total of 515 pounds. She had a squat lift of 200 pounds, bench pressed 105 pounds and had a dead lift of 210 pounds.
The next meet for the power lifters will be February 13 in Levelland and will start at 9:00 AM.
