JV Lady Mules vs. Shallwater & Roosevelt (1-10 & 13-17)

The JV Lady Mules trailed the Shallowater Fillies 32-38 entering the final period. The Lady Mules applied full-court pressure on the Fillies and held the Fillies to just five points in the final frame. 

The Lady Mules pumped in 13 points to defeat the Fillies 45-43. 

The Lubbock Roosevelt Lady Eagles did not fare any better against the Lady Mules Friday night in the Muleshoe High School Gym. The Lady Mules came out firing on all cylinders and outscored the Lady Eagles 42-31. It was the second win of the week for the Lady Mules. 

Brianna Barron not only led, but she also directed the Lady Mule first half charge against Shallowater. She scored five points in the first quarter and four in the second for nine points in the first half. 

Kyndal Miller made a pair of hoops in the first quarter and chipped in a third basket in the second period for six first-half points. Maddison Price pumped in a pair of hoops in the first quarter and one in the second for six points in the first half. 

Alyssa Wheeler dropped in one basket in the first quarter and chipped in a free throw. The Lady Mules trailed the Fillies 29-26 at the intermission.  

The Lady Mules fell behind by three more points in the third quarter. Miller and Valarie Ambriz made one hoop one hoop each. Natalie Diaz and Kayla Torres chipped in a free throw each. The Lady Mules trailed 38-32 after three periods. 

Barron made two driving layups in the final period. Abriana Mendoza sank a pair of hoops. Wheeler and Miller added a basket each as the Lady Mules slipped by the Fillies. Price chipped in a free throw in the winning effort. 

Barron paced the Lady Mules with a game-high 13 points. Miller finished with 10 points, and Price added seven points. Wheeler dropped in five points and Mendoza made four points. Diaz and Torres chipped in one point each. 

The Lady Mules took control against the Lady Eagles of Roosevelt in the opening period. The Lady Mules outscored the Lady Eagles 15-6. The second period was a repeat of the first with the Lady Mules pouring in 13 points while holding the Lady Eagles to two hoops. The Lady Mules led 28-10 at the half. 

The Lady Mules backed off the intensity in the second half but still outscored the Lady Eagles 14-11. 

Wheeler provided the punch for the Lady Mules with seven points in the first period and four in the second. She finished the game with 17 points. Price added 10 points, and Miller dropped in eight points. Barron scored five points, and Diaz chipped in two points. 

The Lady Mules hosted the Littlefield Lady Cats Tuesday night to start the second round of district and will travel to Idalou to play those Lady Cats.
