7th grade Lady Mules Track @ Abernathy (3-27-14)

When the seventh grade Lady Mule track team got home from Abernathy and had an opportunity to examine the results. It became obvious they had won the meet and rather than placing second as they had been told. 

Lili Martinez had finished second in the 1600-meter run. But her points had been credited to a girl named Martinez from Abernathy that had actually finished in eleventh place. Those eight points were enough to put the Lady Mules ahead of Abernathy for the team gold. Abernathy, Post, Tulia, Lubbock Roosevelt and Floydada all trailed the Lady Mules. 

Keely Dunham won the Lady Mules first silver medal in the shot put with a heave of 28 feet three and a quarter inches. Sophie Reyna placed fourth with a throw of 27-06.25. Dunham placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 50-05.

Natalie Elizalde and Citlalli Vargas placed fourth and fifth in the long jump with leaps of 13-00.25 and 13-00.00 respectively. Vargas finished sixth in the triple jump with a hop, skip and jump of 25-07.75. 

Martinez won her first silver medal in the 2400-meter run with a time of 10 minutes 6.49 seconds. Alyssa Wheeler earned the bronze medal in the same event with a 10:29.87. Natalie Diaz, Vargas, Reina Regalado and Kyndal Miller ran a silver medal time in the 4x100-meter relay of 56.45. 

Elizalde won the silver medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:55.68 and Vargas finished sixth with a 3:00.06. Elizalde climbed atop of the winners stand for the gold medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.45. 

The 4x200-meter relay team of Hallie Gardner, Diaz, Clarissa Ruvulcaba and Dunham ran a silver medal time of 2:07.85. Kyndal Miller won the silver medal in the 400-meter dash with a 1:06.81. 

Vargas and Kinsey Parker placed fifth and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 1:01.02 and 1:03.83 respectively. Regalado ran a silver medal time of 29.84 in the 200-meter dash. 

Martinez won the silver medal in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:26.00 and Wheeler earned the bronze with a 6:30.46. The 4x400-meter relay team of Dunham, Elizalde, Regalado and Miller clinched the win for the Lady Mules by running a gold medal time of 4:36.83. 

The Lady Mules ran in the District 2-2A Meet in Abernathy Saturday for their final meet of the season.
