MHS Golf @ District (4-9-14)

The Lady Mule golf team won the District 2-2A Championship by a margin of 47 strokes. They qualified to compete in the Region I Tournament on the Ratliff Ranch Golf Course  
in Odessa April 16 and 17.

Lariat Adams led the Lady Mules to the championship by winning the Individual Gold Medal with a two round total of 164. She had 83 shots in the opening round and improved with 81 strokes the second day. Sydnie Sudduth shot round of 113 and 105 for a total of 218. Miranda DeBruin also had a combined total of 218 by shooting a 111 the first day and 107 the second.

Sadie Sudduth finished with 120 shots the first day and a 103 the second day for a total of 223. Bailey Bales was just one shot behind her with rounds of 114 and 120 for a total of 224.  Emily Precure competed as a medalist and shot rounds of 131 and 129 for a total of 260.

The Mules finished fourth in the District 2-2A Golf Tournaments but Conner Harrison was the District Gold Medalist. He shot consistent rounds of 87 and 86 for a total of 173 strokes. Eli Leal was the Bronze Medalist with rounds of 89 and 87 for a 176 shots.

Harrison and Leal will also compete in the Region I Tournament on the Ratliff Ranch Golf Course April 14 and 15.

Matthew Dickerson finished with a total of 231 shots with rounds of 116 and 115. Britton Beall shot a 123 and 129 for a total of 252 strokes. John DeBruin played the first round and finished with a 133 but had a conflict with another spring event the second day. Tony Castillo also shot a 133 the first day but was unable to compete the second day because of an injury.

“The kids did a great job and we are looking forward to going to Odessa for the Region I Tournament,” said Mule golf coach Carey Sudduth.
