9^th Lady Mules vs. Friona (1-19-2015)

The freshmen Lady Mules have dominated the Friona Maidens both times they have met this season. At Friona the Lady Mules took the day 46-22 and when the Maidens visited Muleshoe the Lady Mules again defeated the Maidens 35-21.

Melody Moran grabbed a long defensive rebound and took the ball to the other end and scored for the Lady Mules first points. The Lady Mules passed the ball around the perimeter with Brianne Barron making the final pass to Lily Barrera on the baseline. Barrera netted the six-foot jumper.

Barron was fouled shooting and dropped in a free throw. Barrera put back an offensive rebound and on the next trip down the floor hit a basket from the elbow. Barrera fed Cassidy Cage on the baseline for a six-foot jump shot.

Barrera chipped in a free throw before Noa Rojas made a pass to Moran just inside the free throw line. Moran sank her shot to give the Lady Mules a 14-0 lead. Friona scored in the final five seconds.

Barron drove from the left wing to start the second quarter for the Lady Mules. She then stole the ball at mid court and drove for a hoop. Brianna Velasquez finished a fast break to put the Lady Mules up 20-4 less than three minutes left in the half.

Cage chipped in a free throw before sink a 3-pointer from the top of the key. The half ended with the Lady Mules leading 24-10.

The Lady Mules held Friona in check in the third period and allowed them only four points. Velasquez and Barrera each made a basket before Barron nailed a trey from the top of the key. The Lady Mules led 31-14 going into the final quarter.

Moran and Barrera both made free throws in the final period and Rojas made the Lady Mules final basket.

Barron and Barrera led the Lady Mules with 10 points each. Cage made all six of her points in the first half and Velasquez added four points. Moran finished with three points and Rojas chipped in two points.

The Lady Mules traveled to Tulia Monday evening to play the Lady Hornets. The Lady Mules will finish the season on the road in Littlefield and Friona.
