Lady Mules vs. Shallowater
& Dimmitt (1-27&30-2015)
The very young Lady Mules
suffered through a tough week with the highly rank Shallowater Fillies coming
to Muleshoe Tuesday night and then traveled to Dimmitt to face the Bobbies on
Friday night.
The Fillies rode herd on the
Lady Mules 63-38 Tuesday night and the Bobbies slipped away from the Lady Mules
in the third period to take the night 49-38.
Dani Diaz gave the Lady Mules
their only lead in the game against Shallowater when she drained a 3-pointer
from the left wing. She added a pair of free throws later in the quarter. Sadie
Sudduth added a free throw. The Fillies led 14-6 after one quarter.
Conley Niblett made the Lady
Mules only basket in the second period. But Sydnie Sudduth made two free throws
as did Diaz. Niblett made six-of-eight from the charity line. The Lady Mules
trailed 31-18 at the half.
Sy. Sudduth sank a trey from
the top of the key to start the second half. Yvonne Diaz scored inside by
putting back an offensive rebound. Niblett turned in the lane to score a basket
D. Diaz chipped in three free throws. The Fillies had increased their margin to
47-28.
D. Diaz put back an offensive
rebound to start the final period. Angie Perez scored from the elbow extended
and Sa. Sudduth made a pair of free throws. Niblett completed an old-fashion
three-point play by fighting through a foul for a basket and then adding the
free throw. She chipped in one last free throw before the game ended.
Niblett led the Lady Mules
with 14 points. D. Diaz nailed a trey, scored a basket and made seven-of-eight
free throws for 12 points. Sy. Sudduth added five points. Sa. Sudduth, Perez
and Y. Diaz chipped in two points each.
The Lady Mules struggled out
of the gate in Dimmitt. The Bobbies took a 17-11 lead in the first period. Sa.
Sudduth sank a 3-pointer almost half way through the first period to start the
Lady Mule offense. Sy Sudduth hit a mid range jump shot and Niblett made a pair
of free throws.
Shanice Rosas started the
second period with an old-fashion three-point play. She battled her way through
a foul to score and added the charity toss to cut the Bobbie lead to one. The
Lady Mules kept the score close and even had a two-point lead at one point.
Sy. Sudduth made a pair of
free throws and Y. Diaz put back a rebound. She later tied the game at 17-17
with a three point play. Sa. Sudduth hit a 3-pointer to give the Lady Mule a
20-19 lead.
D. Diaz two free throws put
the Lady Mules back on top 22-21 and Y. Diaz scored in the paint to extend the
Lady Mule lead to 24-22. That was the final time the Lady Mules led in the
game. The Bobbies led the game 28-24 at the half.
The Lady Mules scored only
four points in the third period while the Bobbies put up 13 points. D. Diaz
sank a 3-pointer with 3:40 remaining in the third period and Y. Diaz chipped in
a free throw. The Lady Mules trailed 41-28 with one period left to play.
Sy. Sudduth made a basket
from near the elbow and made three free throws in the final period. Y. Diaz put
back a rebound for a hoop and Niblett scored in the paint. D. Diaz chipped in a
final free throw.
Y. Diaz came off the bench to
lead the Lady Mules with 10 points. Sy. Sudduth dropped in nine points. Sa.
Sudduth and D. Diaz finished with six points each. Niblett scored four points
and Rosas chipped in three points.
The Lady Mules hosted the
Littlefield Lady Cats Tuesday night and the Friona Squaws arrive on Friday
night.
