The Lady Mule Powerlifting team placed fifth at the first Dimmitt Powerlifting Meet. Brianna Barron and Noa Rojas led the Lady Mule team with each girl winning a third place medal in their division. Evan Paez paced the Mule team with a second place medal as the Mules also placed fifth in the meet.

“We did not have anyone bust out today, in fact, all of our kids improved in at least one lift today,” said Muleshoe Powerlifting coach Kirk Byrd. “Some improved in the squat, some the bench press, some the deadlift and a few improved in all three lifts.”

“They have all been working hard lifting both before and after school. They have put in a lot of time and effort and are now seeing the results. It is good to see the smiles on their faces.” 

Barron competed in the 97 pound class. She had a 150 squat lift, bench pressed 70 pounds and deadlifted 200 pounds for a total of 420 pounds. Rojas lifted in the 165 pound class. She hoisted 170 pounds in the squat lift, bench pressed 100 pounds and had a deadlift of 210 pounds for a total of 480 pounds.

Ruby Andrade earned a fourth place medal in the 114 pound class with a total weight of 425 pounds. She had a squat lift of 160 pounds, bench pressed 80 pounds and deadlifted 185 pounds.

Jaida Gandarilla brought home a fourth place medal in the 148 pound class with a total weight of 505 pounds. She squat lifted 200 pounds, bench pressed 90 pounds and deadlifted 215 pounds.

Brianna Velasquez placed sixth in the 123 pound class with a total weight of 435 pounds. She had a squat lift of 150 pounds, bench pressed 70 pounds and deadlifted 215 pounds. Daniella Cortez was seventh in the 148 pound class with a squat lift of 180 pounds, bench press of 85 pounds and deadlifted 200 pounds for a total of 465 pounds.

The Mules finished the meet with five medal winners. Paez led the Mules with a second place medal in the 114 pound class with a total weight of 685 pounds. He had a squat lift of 220 pounds, bench pressed 155 pounds and deadlifted 310 pounds.

Carlos Hernandez earned a third place medal in the 181 pound class with a squat lift of 390 pounds. He bench pressed 170 pounds and deadlifted 420 pounds for a total of 980 pounds.

David Rodriguez brought home a third place medal in the 275 pound class. He squat lifted 530 pounds, bench pressed 280 pounds and deadlifted 440 pounds for a total of 1250 pounds.

Francisco Elizalde won a fourth place medal in the 132 pound class with a total weight of 765 pounds. He had a squat lift of 240 pounds, bench pressed 225 pounds and deadlifted 300 pounds.

Cesar Olivares took the fifth place medal in the 181 pound class. He squat lifted 325 pounds, bench pressed 210 pounds and deadlifted 350 pounds for a total of 885 pounds. Dominic Hasley rounded out the Mule team with an eighth place finish in the 181 pound class. He squat lifted 320 pounds, bench pressed 155 pounds and deadlifted 350 pounds for a total of 825 pounds.

The Muleshoe Powerlifters next competition will be February 14 in the Levelland Lobo Powerlifting Meet.
