JV Lady Mules vs. Frenship JV Softball (3-4-14)
The JV Lady Mules let the Frenship Lady Tigers know they had been in scrap
Tuesday evening. Frenship won the five inning affair 4-0.
Crystal Flores was in the pitching circle for the Lady Mules and only gave
up four runs on three hits. She struck out two and walked five. The Lady Mules
did not record a hit and stranded four runners on base.
Frenship got a hit to start the game and two fielding errors allowed the
Tigers to score three runs. Nine Tigers batted in the inning. The Lady Mules
held the Tigers scoreless after that until the fifth inning when one run
crossed.
Zoe Apadaca fielded a ground ball at second to start the second inning and
tossed the ball to Misty Ramirez at first base for an out. Yasmine Sandoval
gathered in a ground ball at third and fire it across the diamond for the second
out of the inning.
Ramirez stuck up her glove at first and snagged a bases loaded line drive
to end the top of the second inning.
A slow roller to third resulted in a base hit for the first Tiger batter in
the third inning. Brittney Mendoza camped under a pop fly at short stop for the
first out of the inning and held the runner at first.
Mendoza scooped up a ground ball and tossed to Apodaca at second for the
force out on a fielder’s choice. Kayla Preston chased down a fly ball to right
field for the final Tiger out of the third inning.
It was three up and three down for the Tigers in the fourth inning. Apodaca
gathered in the ground ball to second for the first out of the inning. Katy
Salas made back-to-back catches on fly balls to center field to end the
inning.
A walk to the first batter of the fifth inning resulted in an insurance run
for the Tigers. A fly to Salas in center was the first out. The next batter went
down swinging and Flores got the final batter out on a called strike.
The Lady Mules were back on the field Tuesday in Shallowater and travel to
Lubbock Estacado March 14. The Lady Mules begin district competition March 15 in
