JV Mule Track @ Littlefield (2-28-14)
The JV Mules first track meet of the season was held in Littlefield Friday.
The Mules finished in second place. Idalou was the only team ahead of the Mules
and Levelland, Littlefield, Shallowater and Cooper finished in that
order.
Antonio Vasquez placed fourth in both the high jump and long jump. He
cleared five feet four inches in the high jump and had a leap of 17-5.25 in the
long jump. Javy Perez placed fifth in the high jump with a height of 5-0.
Matthew Flores won the Mules first gold medal of the day in the triple jump
with a distance of 37-0.0. Jason Florez won the silver medal in the same event
with a hop, skip and jump of 34-10.0. Jesse Easily placed fifth in the triple
jump with a distance of 33-10.
Eddie Elizalde won the bronze medal in the first race of the day, the
3200-meter run with a time of 13 minutes and 6.23 seconds. The Mule 400-meter
relay team of Evan Paez, Easily, JJ Gandara and Tim Perez won the bronze medal
with a time of 48.06.
Aaron Ross won silver medals in both the 800-meter run and 200-meter dash.
He had a time of 2:23.94 in the 800 and 25.11 in the 200.
Flores and Dillon Miller finished fourth and fifth in the 110-meter hurdles
with times of 19.44 and 20.47 respectively. Flores and Miller won the silver and
bronze medals in the 300-meter hurdles with times of 47.96 and 49.33
respectively.
Beto Diaz had a silver medal time of 11.93 in the 100-meter dash. Paez,
Gandara, Miller and Easily finished fourth in the 4x200-meter relay with a time
of 1:43.62. Diaz and Ross placed fifth and sixth in the 400-meter dash with
times of 57.88 and 57.91 respectively.
In the final race of the day the Mules won the silver medal in the
4x400-meter. Teaming up to run the event was Paez, Gandara, Perez and Easily and
they finished with a time of 3:58.00.
The Mules will take to the track Friday in the Tulia Hornet Invitational.
