Mule Golf @ Tulia (3-5-14)
The Mule golf team traveled to Tulia on Wednesday to open their 2014 golf
season in the Tulia Invitational Golf Tournament. Mother Nature played havoc
with the tournament and it had to be called after only nine holes.
“It was such a cold and windy day that the tournament had to be stopped
after the first round,” said Mule golf coach Carey Sudduth. “There was even this
wet stuff falling from the sky that I thought I might have seen before but not
sure any of the boys had. The tournament officials decided it would be best to
call a halt to the competition.”
The Mules did not place in the weather shortened tournament but Conner
Harrison was leading the Mules after nine holes with a total of 46 shots. Eli
Leal was just behind him with 48 strokes.
Matthew Dickerson lead a trio of Mules with a total of 54 shots. Tony
Castillo was one stroke behind with a 55 and Britton Beall was another stroke
back at 56. John DeBruin finished the first nine holes with a 73.
The Mules next tournament will be the Friona Invitational Tournament on
March 19.
