Lady Mules Track @ Littlefield (2-28-14)
A portion of the Lady Mule track team placed fourth in the Littlefield
Invitational Meet. The Lady Mules will be shorthanded again this week when they
travel to Tulia on Friday, March 7.
Adrienne Precure picked up where she left off last year and won three
medals to lead the Lady Mules. She started with a gold medal in the high jump
where she won with a leap of five feet even.
Precure took back-to-back silver medals in the hurdles. She ran a time of
16.77 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles and followed that with a time of 48.25 in
the 300-meter hurdles.
Marilyn Melendez also added points for the Lady Mules in the field events.
She cleared a height of 4-4 in the high jump for fourth place. Melendez placed
sixth in the long jump with a leap of 12-1.75.
Jasmine Garza placed fourth in the first race of the day, the 3200-meter
run with a time of 14:34.03. Blanca Ramirez finished fourth in the 800-meter run
with a time of 2:49.58. Ramirez then ran a time of 6:30.37 for fifth place in
the 1600-meter run. Ruby Andrade placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time
of 1:08.55.
The Lady Mules will return to the track in Tulia on Friday.
