Lady Mule Softball vs. Littlefield ( 3-18-14)
The Lady Mules put their 1-0 district record on the line Tuesday. The Lady
Mules proved to be up to the task of not only braving a sandstorm but by
defeating the Lady Cats of Littlelfield 25-3.
The Lady Mule had 14 hits, 13 walks, two hit by pitches and Littlefield
committed four errors. The Lady Mules left seven runners stranded. The Lady
Mules batted around in both the second and third innings.
Marissa Cortez pitched two complete innings. She struck out five batters,
walked two, gave up two hits and one run. Miranda DeBruin pitched the final
three innings and struck out one, walked two, gave up three hits and two runs.
The Lady Mules committed no errors.
Adrianna Loya went to the plate six times in the five innings and scored
four runs. She was two of three at the plate with a single and a double and
walked twice and reached on an error.
Diamond Lopez was at the plate six times and went four for five with two
singles, two doubles and a walk. She scored three runs. Cortez was one for two
at the plate, walked, scored two runs and sacrificed twice.
Amber Lopez scored four runs, walked three times, scored four runs and
singled. Sasha Esparza was one for two at the plate, scored two runs, singled
and walked. DeBruin crossed the plate three times, was two for two at the plate,
walked twice and was hit by a pitch.
Samantha Vasquez scored twice, was one for three at the plate with a single
and was hit by a pitch. Gabi Chavez scored three times, doubled, was one for
three at the plate and sacrificed.
Reagan Reynolds sacrificed twice, walked and scored one run. Brittany
Mendoza scored and was one for two at the plate.
Forty seven Lady Mules batted in the game while only 23 Lady Cats found
their way to the plate.
The Lady Mules defended their home field Saturday against the Lady Winds of
Floydada in much nicer weather than the Lady Mules had played in on Tuesday. The
Lady Mules defeated the Lady Winds 9-2 in a seven inning game to improve to 3-0
and complete their first round of district.
The Lady Mules hosted the Abernathy Lady Lopes Tuesday to begin their
second of three rounds of district. The Littlefield Lady Cats will visit the
Lady Mules Saturday.
