Lady Mules & Mule Golf @ Friona (3-19-14)
The Muleshoe High School golf teams competed for two days in the Friona
Invitational Tournament. Lariat Adams and Eli Leal won the individual gold
medals. The Lady Mules placed second and the Mules finished fourth.
“The girls team played Tuesday in that horrible sandstorm,” said golf coach
Carey Sudduth. The girls hung in there and played hard. The Mules played the
next day and Eli Leal made it a sweep of the individual gold medals. He shot his
all time personal best score of 76.”
Adams led the Lady Mules with an 18-hole score of 88 despite the conditions
the girls were forced to play. Sydnie Sudduth finished with a 105 and sister
Sadie Sudduth was one shot off her pace with a 106. Miranda DeBruin had a score
of 110 and Emily Precure shot a 136.
Leal’s 76 was a tough pace for the rest of the Mules. Matthew Dickerson
shot a 94 and Tony Castillo need 99 shots to finish the 18 hole tournament.
Britton Beal fired a round of 101.
“The two teams will begin district play March 24 with Dimmitt hosting the
girls and Tulia will host the Mules. If see any of these athletes please wish
them luck,” concluded Sudduth.
