Lady Mules Track @ Abernathy (3-28-14)

The Lady Mule track team had the Antelope Invitational Meet won before they even lined up for the final race of the day. But the Lady Mules won the 4x400-meter relay to place the cherry on top Friday afternoon. 

The Lady Mules topped the six-team meet with 162 points. New Deal, Tulia, Post, Abernathy and Floydada trailed the Lady Mules in that order. 

Adrienne Precure won her first of four individual medals in the high jump by leaping four feet eight inches. Her second gold medal in the field events came in the pole vault when she cleared 9-0. 

Katelyn Gable placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 14-04.50. Aimee Rosas finished sixth in the triple jump by hop, skip and jumping a distance of 30-02.50. 

Jasmine Garza and Miranda Acevedo won the gold and silver medals in the first race of the day, the 3200-meter run. Garza ran a time of 13 minutes 49.03 second and Acevedo finished with a 13:56.32. 

The 4x100-meter relay team of Gable, Ruby Andrade, Rosas, Jazmin Arellano placed fifth with a time of 53.85. 

Mireya Ruvalcaba and Noemi Herrera won the gold and silver medals in the 800-meter run with times of 2:39.46 and 2:41.89 respectively. Keidi Salas was just steps behind the for fourth place with a time of 2:44.99. 

Precure won her first of two individual gold medals in the running events in the 100-meter hurdles. She ran away from the field with a time of 16.39. Daniela Diaz placed sixth in the event with a 19.54. 

Gable, Rosas, Diaz and Arellano teamed up for the bronze medal in the 4x200-meter relays with a time of 1:56.65. Ruvalcaba ran a silver medal time of 1:06.13 in the 400-meter dash. Andrade placed sixth in the same event with a 1:08.44. 

Precure’s second gold medal in the running events came in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 48.49. Gable won the silver medal in the 200-dash with a time of 27.73. 

Salas, Acevedo and Blanca Ramirez swept the medals in the 1600-meter run. Salas ran a gold medal time of 6:15.24, Acevedo was a step behind for the silver medal with a 6:16.24 and Ramirez won the bronze with a 6:22.44. They had clinched the meet for the Lady Mules. 

Precure’s final gold medal of the day came as a team effort. Rosas, Andrade, Ruvalcaba and Precure teamed up in the 4x400-meter relay. They ran a gold medal time of 4:26.23. 

The Lady Mules final tune-up meet of the season will be in Brownfield’s Cub Relays April 4.
