Mule Track @ Littlefield (2-28-14)

The Mule track team finished fifth in their first meet of the season that was held in Littlefield Friday. Levelland, Idalou, Shallowater and Little finished ahead of the Mules and Lubbock Cooper placed sixth. 

Tony Castillo won the Mules first medal of the day with a silver medal leap of five feet eight inches in the high jump. Christian Lopez placed fifth in the discus throw with a distance of 119-5.50.

The Mule 400-meter relay team of Pepe Mendoza, Nate Rosas, Jorge Martinez and Blayne Shipman placed fifth with a time of 47.75 seconds. Christian Paez was fourth in the 800-meter run with a 2:11.27.

Blayne Shipman ran a time of 19.15 in the 110-meter hurdles for fourth place. The Mule 800-meter relay team of Rosas, Martinez, Tre Villa and Paez finished sixth with a time of 1:40.51.

Austin Ross won a gold and silver medal at Littlefield. He ran a gold medal time of 51.55 in the 400-meter dash and a silver medal time of 23.00 in the 200-meter dash. Noah Del Toro placed fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:34.06. 

The Mule 1600-meter relay team of Martinez, Paez, Villa and Ross took the bronze medal with a time of 3:44.04.

The Mules will travel to Tulia Friday, March 7, for the Hornet Invitational.
