7th Lady Mules vs.
Littlefield (1-8-2018)
The seventh-grade Lady Mules
traveled to Littlefield and defeated the Lady Cats 24-10 Monday afternoon.
“This was our first game back
from the Christmas break,” said Lady Mule coach, Jalissa King. “We had 13
turnovers and only shot 20 percent from the blocks. But we managed to overcome
this with some impressive non-shooting statistics.”
“Ashton Hardwick pulled down
nine rebounds. Kendra Kelley made four assists. Araceli Diaz and Kassie Kelley
each had five steals. No matter how rusty our skills happen to be, these girls
always hustle.”
The Lady Mules held
Littlefield scoreless in the opening period. The Lady Mules pumped in eight
points to lead Littlefield 8-0 after one period.
The Lady Cats got untracked
in the second quarter with six points, but the Lady Mules dropped in 10 points
to lead 18-6 at the half.
Both teams made four points
in the third quarter. The Lady Mules again shut down the Littlefield in the
final quarter.
Kylie Hernandez and Araceli
Diaz paced the Lady Mules with six points each.
The seventh-grade Lady Mule
B-team lost 18-10. Alejandra Medina led the Lady Mules with four points.
Littlefield outscored the
Lady Mules 8-2 in the first half. Both teams scored eight points each in the
second half.
“We had a hard time getting
started,” continued Coach King. “It came back to bite us in the end. These
girls almost made a comeback but fell a little short.”
