JV Lady Mules vs. Slaton

The JV Lady Mules went down
32-25 Friday afternoon to the Slaton Tigerettes before the Christmas break.
Slaton took a first-period
lead by outscoring the Lady Mules 14-6. Kinsey Parker scored first for the Lady
Mules with a layup less than a minute into the contest. Anna Phillips scored in
the paint and then made a cross-lane pass to Maddison Price for a short jumper.
Both teams scored eight
points in the second quarter, and the Lady Mules trailed 22-14 at the half.
Price made the Lady Mules first two points with a short jumper with just over
two minutes gone in the period. Jordan Zapata chipped in a free throw, and
Parker made three from the charity line plus a basket.
Price scored the Lady Mules
first points of the second half with a hoop from 15 feet. Parker put back an
offensive rebound. The Lady Mules trailed Slaton 29-18 with one frame left to
play.
The Lady Mules outscored
Slaton 7-3 in the final quarter but came up short on the night. Kayla Torres
only two points came early in the last period. Joceline Ramirez dropped in a
short jumper, and Valeri Toscano added a free throw. Citalli Vargas made a steal
and drove for a layup to make the Lady Mules’ final points of the game.
Parker paced the Lady Mules
with nine points, and Price finished with six points. Vargez, Torres, Ramirez,
and Phillips made two points each. Toscano and Zapata chipped in one point
apiece.
