8th Lady Mules vs.
Slaton (11-27-2017)
The eighth grade Lady Mules
used full-court pressure to overpower the Slaton Tigerettes Monday evening
47-11. The Lady Mules jumped out to a 16-2 lead at the end of one period and
then coasted to the win.
Natalie Ambriz got the Lady
Mules started with a hoop 50 seconds into the game. She added two more baskets
before the period ended. Alina Elizarraraz dropped in three buckets. Paige
Parker drove coast-to-coast for a layup, and Kayla Soto scored on an inbounds
play. The Lady Mules led 16-2 after one quarter.
Slaton remained in shock as
the Lady Mule defense continued to apply pressure the full 94 feet of the court.
Slaton only scored two points in the second frame. Elizarraraz put back an
offensive rebound to crank the Lady Mule offense in the second quarter.
Kayla Sierra took a feed from
Ambriz to score a basket. Ambriz, Soto, and Parker each scored a bucket before
the intermission. The Lady Mules led 26-4 at the halftime break.
Elizarraraz led off for the
Lady Mules in the third period with a basket. Parker scored twice, and Genesis
Vasquez dropped in a hoop. Ambriz chipped in a free throw and added a bucket.
The Lady Mules had extended their lead to 37-10 after three periods.
Kylee Villa scored just 10
seconds into the final period. Parker, Soto, Ambriz, and Makayla Toscano scored
a basket each in the last quarter.
Ambriz finished the day with
13 points. Elizarraraz and Parker added 10 points each. Soto dropped in six
points. Villa, Vasquez, Sierra, and Toscano scored two points each. All eight
Lady Mules scored in the game.
