JV Mules vs.
Denver City (12-5-2017)
The JV Mules were able to stay within two points of
the Denver City Mustangs Tuesday evening. But the Mules came up short in the
second and third period to fall to the Mustangs 61-43.
Carter McCamish broke the scoring ice for the Mules
with a reverse layup just over a minute into the game. Josh Torres added a
basket and a pair of free throws. Leonel Camarena dropped in a pair of charity
tosses. Brady Martinez led the Mules with three hoops. The Mules trailed 16-14
after one quarter.
Martinez made all five of the Mules points in the
second period. The Mules had fallen behind 30-19 by the half.
Jose Cardenas was fouled shooting and made one free
throw almost two minutes into the third period. Bryan Ginez scored in the paint
late in the quarter and Torres finished the period with a layup. The Mules
trailed 46-26 with one period left to play.
Ginez got hot in the final four minutes of the game.
He made two free throws and three baskets. Cardenas sandwiched a free throw
between a pair of hoops. Jimmy Villa drove for a layup. Martinez led off the
final quarter leading a fast break for a layup.
Martinez paced the Mules with 13 points. Ginez made
all 10 of his points in the second half. Cardenas eight points came in the
second half. Torres finished with six points. Villa and McCamish chipped in two
points each.
The JV Mules traveled to Levelland to play the Lobos
Tuesday evening and will host the Portales Rams December 15. The Mules will
start district on the road in Dimmitt December 19 and will return home December
