JV Mules vs. Littlefeld (1-16-2018)
The JV Mules stumbled out of the gate in Littlefield
and fell behind early. Littlefield continued to pour in the points to defeat
the Mules 51-32.
Kelan Florez opened the game for the Mules with a
free throw. Florez later sank a trey just two minutes before the first period
ended. The Mules trailed 10-4 after one quarter.
Derek Barron made a layup early in the second
period. Florez hit a short jumper, and
Nick Zarragoza drained a trey before the
half. The Mules were down 26-11 at the half.
Florez opened the second half with a 12-foot jumper
from near the baseline. Leonel Camarena made back-to-back hoops from the
blocks. Barron sank a 15-foot jump shot to end the third period with the Mules
trailing 39-19 with one quarter left to play.
Kelan Florez drove the lane not once, but twice for
layups to open the final quarter. Camarena again made a pair of hoops in the
paint. Barron sank a short jumper before zeroing in a shot from behind the arc
to end the game.
Florez led the Mules with 12 points. Barron dropped
in nine points, and Camarena added eight points. Zarragoza chipped in three points.
Friday night the Mules fell to the Idalou Wildcats
51-36. Barron led the Mules with 10 points. Bryan Ginez scored eight points in
the game, and Camarena finished with seven points.
The Mules are currently 3-4 in district and hosted
the Dimmitt Bobcats Tuesday evening. The Mules will then travel to Slaton to
play the Tigers.
